| About Us |
|
We are located on the shores of Lake Michigan, in
Michigan's Ottawa County. Organized as a 501(c)(3)
non-profit corporation in 2005, the Friends of Ottawa County Parks have vigorously built public
awareness of County Parks by:
 |
..supporting the campaign to renew parks and open space millage
which was overwhelmingly approved by the voters in August, 2006 |
 |
..hosting
events to introduce new park properties and facilities to the public
|
 |
..presenting a program of Judge Edward Post's stunning nature
photography in Hager Park's VanderLaan Room |
 |
..providing information about the expanding park system at fairs,
community celebrations, and out-lying recreation sites |
 |
..sponsoring a low-cost Grand River excursion for families on the
paddle-wheeler Grand Lady |
 |
..exciting summer park goers with weekly contests to discover features
within the Parks and win annual passes to the County's Lake Michigan
beaches. |

Where and when we Meet:
Monthly meetings are held at 4 p.m. on the third
Wednesday of the month, except December, in
one of the Ottawa County Fillmore Complex's conference rooms. The

Governance:
All members are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings of the Board
of Directors and participate in planning and discussions. It is the
elected Directors who make the decisions for operation of the organization.
A nominating committee presents the slate of nominees for election of

Directors then select their officers for the year. Officers may serve
a maximum of 3 consecutive years in one officer position on the Board.
There are currently 8 members of the Board of Directors:
Jean Laug-Carroll, President
Alice Hoban, Vice-President
Liz Notman, Secretary
Shirley Draft, Treasurer
